Canned Foods May Be Exposing You to Hidden Chemicals

Canned foods are convenient, but the lining inside some cans may be part of the problem.

Some food cans have used liners containing BPA or similar chemicals to prevent corrosion. Studies have connected canned food consumption with higher urinary BPA levels, and BPA has been widely discussed for its hormone-disrupting potential. Acidic foods, soups, and heavily processed canned meals can be especially worth watching.

Convenience should not mean daily chemical exposure.

Simple steps you can take today:

Choose fresh or frozen foods when possible.
Look for BPA-free cans when buying canned goods.
Rinse canned beans and vegetables before eating.
Avoid relying on canned meals as a daily habit.

At INMUHEALTH, prevention starts with education and routine checkups, including wellness monitoring, lifestyle risk reviews, lab work when needed, and referrals for specialized care.
